Took the hike from the Seward highway and it was a very well maintained trail and good parking lot with even bathrooms. The hike was very intense and switch backed multiple times. Tiny streams cross your path. Once up top it is beautiful. After some time walking threw the alpine, you come across a trail which to the left take you to the lake and to the right takes you to the bear box and camping area. It's a stocked lake so bring your rod.

| | Carter Lake Trail is very far from the nearest big city and it sure is a nice trail. This river has so much to offer. If you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Canyon Creek. There's so much to do here at Carter Lake Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Primrose Landing Campground is a great place for that. Whitewater paddling is great on Sixmile River, and if you came to camp A Creekside Trailer Park is a good spot to do that.
From a rainfall point of view Carter Lake Trail is a pretty typical |
spot; the month with most of the rain is October, and May is the month with the least moisture. Moose Pass is a nice spot to explore nearby, and if you have time, Kenai Fjords National Park is a national park worth going to.
