| | We all need to get out in nature once in a while and Spaulding Trail in Juneau Borough, Alaska is the outdoors at it's best. Spaulding Trail is a long drive away from Juneau but what a great place for hiking it is. There are many wonderful hiking trails in the Chugach Mountains where you can truly take in all the beauty of these mountains. A lot of precipitation falls at Spaulding Trail; the month of October is the wettest with most of the rain; April is when it's the driest.

Trail is always a good idea, and camping is available at Auke Bay RV Park. At Spaulding Trail you always meet someone from Juneau.
There are some great whitewater spots on Mendenhall River; let's not forget Waydelich Creek which is a stream that you may bump into during your
| stay. So much entertaining stuff to do here in the Chugach Mountains, too glorious to be true. If you come at the right time of year, Montana Creek offers some nice whitewater; naturally Auke Nu Creek flows through this neighborhood. If you are in Alaska during hiking season you have to go hiking.
Throughout the summer months at Spaulding Trail temperatures are usually in the 60's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's; through the dark hours in the winter at Spaulding Trail temperatures descend to the 20's. | |
