Bear Lake was surely a disappointment! I'd heard it had good fishing, but after puffing up a long, steep, and confusing trail (we lost our way more than once, delaying our arrival about an hour) we found the lake nearly dry; muddy, and infested with mosquitoes! Next time I'll save myself the bother and fish the Conejos.

There's so much to do here at Bear Lake Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Conejos Campground is a nice location for that, and obviously Lake Fork is a stunning stream that is worth going to. At Bear Lake Trail during the long summer days highs are in the 60's, and all through summer nights temperatures |
are in the 40's. All through the winter highs are in the 30's, and overnight lows at Bear Lake Trail during the winter regularly drop into the 0's.

| the most while June is typically the driest month. Get your pulse rate up on the splendid whitewater of Conejos River, and do visit Saddle Creek if you're here at Bear Lake Trail.
