| | Colorado is a great outdoors state. Cottonwood Trail is located quite a long drive from Montrose but hiking along this trail is very enjoyable. Summertime highs at Cottonwood Trail commonly tend to be in the 90's with nighttime lows in the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's while Cottonwood Trail overnight low temperatures all through the wintertime are in the 10's.
San Miguel River is a fine whitewater spot near Cottonwood Trail; why not camp at T Bone Spring Campground if you're here at Cottonwood Trail. Camping is available |

at Smokehouse Campground; a delightful spot for whitewater paddling is Escalante Creek. Be careful coming to the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains, you might not ever wanna return home again. While you're here at Cottonwood Trail it's a good idea to pop by Cottonwood Basin; during
| your visit here you'll meet some folks from Montrose for sure.
Around Cottonwood Trail you don’t get a lot of precipitation; most of the rain falls all through August, and the driest month of the year is June. Bullfrog Dam has nice water scenery and it's right next door to Cottonwood Trail. Time to get out and breathe some fresh air, and Cottonwood Trail in Montrose County, Colorado is such a great place.
