We all need to get out in nature once in a while and Hammond Trail in Gunnison County, Colorado is such a great place. Stay the night at Smith Fork Campground, and a perfect place to stop by nearby is Poison Gulch.

through the winter highs are in the 30's; night lows at Hammond Trail during the winter generally sink into the-10's. At this river you will never have a bad time. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Anthracite Creek - Ruby Fork. Crystal
| Meadows Ranch is a great campground here, and if you come at the right time of year, Gunnison River - North Fork offers some fine whitewater.
