Take a side tour to Deep Creek, and Great Sand Dunes National Monument is a very pleasant place to stop at. For the duration of the months of summer at Huerfano Trail highs are regularly in the 80's. Huerfano Trail is very far from the nearest big city and it is a great escape from the city. Not much precipitation falls here at Huerfano Trail; during August this area sees the most rain while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
