| | Finally, hiking time is here again, and if you happen to be in Lake County of Colorado, Main Range Trail is a great local trail for doing a bit of leg stretching. Main Range Trail is located quite a long drive from Edwards but many people like to hike here to be close to nature. If you have a thing about the outdoors you'll have a thing about it here in the Sawatch Range. A great place to pop by next to Main Range Trail is Gordon Gulch, and Lake View Campground is a perfect campground here. Main Range Trail gets very little rain; August is the month that |
gets the most rain; the driest month of the year is February.
The scenery at Cozart Dam in close proximity to Main Range Trail is wonderful, and you can stay the night at White Star Campground. For the period of the summertime months highs here at Main Range Trail reach the
| 70's, and during the night it cools down to the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's, and after the sun is down all through the winter temperatures at Main Range Trail dip into the 0's.
In Colorado you never run out of outdoors fun. In the Sawatch Range there are many great hiking trails where beautiful scenery awaits you.
There are some delightful whitewater spots on Clear Creek, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Lake Creek. | |
