| | There are many wonderful hiking trails in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains, it's a great hiking area. Mineral-Stevens Trail is located quite a long drive from Canon City but trails like these are great. Mineral-Stevens Trail is commonly a relatively dry site; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain; the driest month of the year is January.
You just can't envision the amount of outdoors cool stuff the Sangre De Cristo Mountains has to offer. There's whitewater on Arkansas River for all you adrenaline people, and it's a wonderful idea |

to stop by South Newlin Creek. During the warm months at Mineral-Stevens Trail temperatures are ordinarily in the 80's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's with temperatures at Mineral-Stevens Trail dipping
| down into the 20's during winter nights.
Stay the night at Smith Creek Campground, and Mineral-Stevens Trail is not far at all from Canon City. This part of Colorado has a great deal of available outdoors activities. Gotta get out of the city man, and Mineral-Stevens Trail in Custer County, Colorado is a great place to go.
Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Grape Creek. There's so much to do here at Mineral-Stevens Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Oak Creek Campground is a fine place for that. | |
