Peaks Trail is very far from the nearest big city and it is a great escape from the city. It is very dry here at Peaks Trail frequently; August is the month that gets the most rain; the driest month of the year is January. And if that's not enough there's loads more entertaining stuff to do in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Peaks Trail is a good place to visit for more than one day, Cuchara Campground is a good place to camp nearby,     and hey, Bonnett Creek is a tremendous local stream. Stay the night at Bear Lake Campground, and some of the water nearby flows, like Bend Creek. You might want to pay a visit to Cottonwood Canyon since you're here at Peaks Trail. Through the long summer days at Peaks Trail highs are frequently in the 80's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are regularly in the 30's while Peaks Trail nighttime low temperatures throughout the winter are in the 0's. Gotta get out of the city man, and if you happen to be in Huerfano County of Colorado, Peaks Trail is a great local trail for doing a bit of leg stretching.
