In the Park Range there are many great hiking trails where you can truly take in all the beauty of these mountains. Visit Hamilton Creek while you're here at Ptarmigan Trail, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Blue River. There's so much to do here at Ptarmigan Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Sentinel Island Campground is a great site for that. Throughout the months of summer at Ptarmigan Trail highs are ordinarily in the 70's while nighttime lows are typically
| in the 40's. During the wintertime highs are generally in the 20's; nighttime lows at Ptarmigan Trail all through the winter usually drop into the 0's. Ptarmigan Trail is a trail quite far from Silverthorne but many people like to hike here to be close to nature.
Coming to this river is always a good idea. You'll meet a lot of folks from Silverthorne here; there are some pleasant whitewater spots on Tenmile Creek. In Colorado you never run out of outdoors fun.
It is very waterless here at Ptarmigan Trail usually; July is the month that gets the most rain, and February is when it's the driest. | |
