And if that's not sufficient there's lots more fun things to do in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. There's whitewater on Conejos River for all you adrenaline junkies, and getting to North Fork Rough Creek from Ruybalid Trail is uncomplicated.

The high level of precipitation makes Ruybalid Trail a reasonably wet spot; March is the month that gets the most snow, and the driest month is June. Ruybalid Trail is in a quite desolate area and hiking it is great fun any time.
