While I have not had the pleasure of hiking any of its trails yet, I look forward to camping in this area. I ''scouted'' the dirt road into the Spruce Hole exit off of the main road. It is very lovely through this piece of wilderness. Lots of healthy pines, wildflowers, and plenty of wildlife too. Sorry I don't have any pictures, but if you're thinking about camping or hiking here... I highly suggest that you do!

| | Hey, time for a hike don’t you think? Spruce Hole Trail in Conejos County, Colorado is the outdoors at it's best. Spruce Hole Trail is in a quite desolate area and it is a great escape from the city. Elk Creek is a stream that you may run into while here; why not camp at Spectacle Lake Campground while you're here at Spruce Hole Trail.
So much amusing stuff to do at Spruce Hole Trail, so little time. This river is so perfect. A pleasant tour to Spruce Hole is a good way to spend an afternoon; whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you |
then, we recommend Conejos River. The high level of rain makes Spruce Hole Trail a pretty wet place; March is the wettest month with most snow while June is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
High temperatures at Spruce Hole Trail during the summer months are
| in the 60's while overnight lows are usually in the 40's. Highs through the wintertime are mostly in the 30's, and overnight lows in the 0's for Spruce Hole Trail. So much entertaining stuff to do here in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains, too delightful to be true. If you're here, you might as well have a look at La Manga Pass; if you come at the right time of year, Rio de los Pinos offers some good whitewater. La Manga Creek flows through this neighborhood, and camping is available at Ponderosa Campground.
There are many hiking trails in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains where beautiful scenery awaits you. Outdoors people generally like this part of Colorado. | |
