Colorado hiking trails - Stanley Canyon Trail, Front Range, El Paso County LOCATION Latitude: 38.98833 Longitude: -104.91417 User input for Stanley Canyon Trail, Front Range, El Paso County, Colorado: Teri: 9/7/2007 Hiked the Stanley Canyon trail with a friend and enjoyed the trail very much up to the reservoir.  About half way up there is a ''V'' in the trail and you need to stay to the left or straight ahead.  The trail leading up and to the right ends in scree and downed trees.  It's a moderately strenuous trail up to the reservoir; but well worth it.  Afterwards, we hiked up and past the reservoir and wanted to loop around and hit the lower Stanley trail but were unable to find the trailhead for it.  We ended up blazing new ground and coming down Eagle Peak trail much to our surprise. During the summer highs here at Stanley Canyon Trail get into the 80's with nighttime lows in the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's, and night lows in the 0's for Stanley Canyon Trail. But wait, there's more fun stuff to do in the Front     Range. A fine place to camp here at Stanley Canyon Trail is Promontory Campground, and Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument is a splendid national park. Stanley Canyon Trail is pretty dried out commonly; the month with most of the rain is July while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Camping is available at Lake Of The Rockies Retreat; Stanley Canyon is also a brilliant place to discover. Colorado is a great outdoors state.
