Wintersteen Trail

The Wintersteen Trail is becoming increasingly difficult to locate after years on not being maintained or marked by anyone or any group. Finding the ends from either Greyrock or Gateway/Seaman's Reservoir is not so difficult, but the middle portions are very difficult especially coming down from Greyrock. The tree blazes were mostly done from horseback and done 30 or more years ago. Challenging, but interesting. I do take issue with the high temps only being
in the 70's in summer. Often the summer highs will be in the 90's and the winter highs in the teens and 20's. Also in the summer the rattlesnake population is apt to be out and interested so take precautions there as well. Water is
not to be found along the route summer or winter, so take plenty!
