Through the days of summer highs here at Mattabesset Trail reach the 80's. Summer overnight lows fall down to the 50's. During the winter highs are in the 30's; winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Mattabesset Trail.

can camp at Hammonasset Beach State Park. If you come to this river you will have a good time for sure. Hemlock Brook is a stream that you may encounter while you're here, and the smiling folks of New Haven-Milford like to hang out nearby. Mattabesset Trail is a trail quite far
| from New Haven-Milford but when you hike it you're always having a good time.
Hammonasset River has a great whitewater paddling spot close by, and you can stay the night at Little City Campground. The high level of rainfall makes Mattabesset Trail a quite wet site; May is the month that gets the most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. What a place this is for outdoors people.
