Andy:
We hiked the Mattatuck from Buttermilk Falls to the southeast toward Wolcott with the expectation of finding Indian Jack’s Cave and Ledge.  As always, Buttermilk was great with several inches of ice and numerous icicles this cool morning.  About ˝ mile past Buttermilk Falls, the trail connects to the old Tolles-Wolcott Road in the Indian Heaven area.  We could not find the trail on the east side of the road.  There was a house with a mean old dog where we believe the trail goes, but a neighbor recommended not going near the area because of the dog.  Never found Indian Jack’s.
