I am having difficulty locating the trail head in East Granby at rtes. 315 and 189 that leads to south toward Penwood State Park. The trail maps say that the trail head is on Mountain Road, but there are no blue/yellow blazed trail markers on either of the two entry points into the woods. The only indication of the trail is the sign post at the bottom of the road in the three way intersection. Thanks.

| | We all need to get out in nature once in a while and Metacomet Trail in Hartford County, Connecticut is just the place. A great site for whitewater paddling next to Metacomet Trail is Farmington River - Collinsville; if you came for an overnight stay Camp Eagle Feather is a pleasant place to camp. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this place. Don't forget to take a great little trip to Thompson Brook.
Newton Brainard Forest is a nice local forest, and Golden Acres Campground is a wonderful campground nearby. Talcott Mountain State Park is a great spot, |
and Talcott Reservoir Main Dam is a place that is next to Metacomet Trail. Farmington River is a nice whitewater spot right next door to Metacomet Trail; there are plenty of people from Hartford-West Hartford-East Hartford here at Metacomet Trail.
Summertime brings highs in
| the 80's to Metacomet Trail. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 50's. Throughout the wintertime highs are commonly in the 30's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Metacomet Trail temperatures sink to the 10's. The high level of rain makes Metacomet Trail a quite wet location; the month with most of the rain is May while February is mostly the driest month.
