Wharton Brook State Park is a great place to stretch your legs a bit, and Mermaid Rock is in the neighborhood, and is a brilliant place. For the duration of the warm months highs here at West Woods Trail reach the 80's. Summer nighttime
| lows plunge down to the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to West Woods Trail. There's some flowing water close by, Hoadley Creek is a stream you can have a look at during your stay, and Hammonasset River has a pleasant whitewater paddling spot nearby.
