I was there during the weekend before the 4th. DO not plan to stay a whole day here. Have a snack see the falls and move on to other falls. I camped here and it was okay. Had a run in with a huge Timber rattler 3/4 of a mile from entrance of Desot and realized camp was below....... Go see the Waters Creek area as well. Have a great lunch for few hours at Vogel North of DeSoto.

| | DeSoto Falls Trail is a long drive away from Gainesville but it is one of many great trails in this area. Georgia is a good place for outdoors people. It's always perfect to go to Nottely Falls, and if you came to camp Chestatee Knoll Campground is a great location to do that. A lot of precipitation falls at DeSoto Falls Trail; March is the wettest month with most rain, and October on the other hand is the driest.

are mostly in the 40's; throughout the dark hours in the winter at DeSoto Falls Trail temperatures dip to the 20's. A trip to DeSoto Falls will fill your spirit with great feelings, and get soaked paddling on Frogtown Creek. When was the last time you got out in nature a bit?

Be careful coming to the Blue Ridge Mountains, you might not ever wanna go home again. Whitewater paddling is tremendous on Helton Creek; you must check out Levelland Cove when you're here. Shanty Branch is a magnificent site to go to; a good site is Neels Gap.
And if that's not enough, there's a load more to do near DeSoto Falls Trail. DeSoto Falls Trail is magnificent enough to spend more than a day at, Lake Winfield Scott Campground is a magnificent local campground. There are many wonderful hiking trails in the Blue Ridge Mountains where wonderful nature is waiting for you. | |
