  We all need to get out in nature once in a while and Cougar Basin Trail in Valley County, Idaho is just the place. If you fancy the outdoors you'll fancy it here in the Salmon River Mountains. Paddling on Salmon River - Middle Fork is so much fun, and Pistol Creek Campground is a good local campground.
There are many hiking trails in the Salmon River Mountains, there's no better way to enjoy these mountains. In Idaho you never run out of outdoors fun. If you came for an overnight stay Guard Station Campground is a glorious location to camp; since
    you're here, you could pop by Timm Creek.
Through the summer months highs here at Cougar Basin Trail get into the 70's; the overnight is a tad colder of course, mostly in the 30's. Through the winter highs are in the 30's with temperatures at Cougar Basin Trail dipping down
into the 0's through winter nights. Cougar Basin Trail is a good place of typical rainfall; throughout January this area sees the most snow, and the driest month of the year is July. Drift down the rapids of Big Creek in a kayak, and why not have a look at nearby North Fork Monumental Creek if you're here at Cougar Basin Trail.
Cougar Basin Trail being so far away from the nearest city it is a fun place to hike for the whole family.
