Cougar Basin Trail

  Hiking here in Idaho is a must. Time to get out and breathe some fresh air, and if you happen to be in Valley County of Idaho, Cougar Basin Trail is a great local trail for doing a bit of leg stretching. Hiking trails are all over the Salmon River Mountains where wonderful nature is waiting for you.
You'll have to go far from Mountain Home to get to Cougar Basin Trail but trails like these are great. North Fork Monumental Creek flows through this vicinity,
    and paddling on Monumental Creek is so much fun. All year is a pleasant time in the Salmon River Mountains if you go for the outdoors. Timm Creek is a stream that you may bump into while you're here. You'll need more than a day to
discover everything Cougar Basin Trail has to offer, you can camp at Guard Station Campground. Get wet paddling on Big Creek. Stay the night at Dutch Creek Guard Station - Boise National Forest. Cougar Basin Trail is a good site of normal rainfall. For the duration of the month of January you get the most snow around here; July is the month with the least moisture. Summertime highs at Cougar Basin Trail frequently tend to be in the 70's. Summer night lows drop  
down to the 30's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 30's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Cougar Basin Trail sink into the 0's.
