  Because Cougar Ridge Trail is very far from civilization hiking along this trail is very enjoyable. With so many outdoors activities available in Idaho you'll never get bored. Hiking trails like this one are plentyful in the Salmon River Mountains where you can absorb the beauty of these mountains. High temperatures at Cougar Ridge Trail during the summer are in the 80's; through summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Cougar Ridge Trail temperatures
    sink to the 10's.
There's some flowing water close by, Bluff Creek is a stream you can go to during your stay, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Salmon River - South Fork. This place, the Salmon River Mountains, has so much outdoors amusing stuff. Cougar Ridge Trail is
a good place to visit for more than one day, Poverty Flat Campground is a good place to camp nearby, and if you come at the right time of year, Salmon River - South Fork offers some nice whitewater.
You'll need more than a day to discover everything Cougar Ridge Trail has to offer, you can camp at Lodgepole Campground, and as expected South Fork Blackmare Creek flows through this area. Hey, time for a hike don’t you think? Cougar Ridge Trail in Valley County, Idaho is such a great place.
