The trail has not been maintained.  I was able to hike it easily to the top 2 or 3 years ago.  Not today...It was overgrown a lot and substantial deadfall.  There are some burned spots also.  That said, it's beautiful and a rigorous hike.  Wear pants as the twigs will scratch you, and take insect repellant.  Check your body for ticks also. The lookout is cool.

  Miners Peak Trail is a very long way away from civilization and you always have a good time when you're hiking along it. If you are in Idaho during hiking season you have to go hiking. In the Salmon River Mountains you'll find lots of hiking trails where you can absorb the beauty of these mountains. Put on your hiking shoes and hit the trail, if you happen to be in Valley County of Idaho, Miners Peak Trail is a great local trail for doing a bit of leg stretching.
This river has so much to offer. Salmon River - South Fork has a delightful whitewater
    paddling spot close by, and Miners Peak Trail is perfect enough to spend more than a day at, Buckhorn Campground is a perfect local campground. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Miners Peak Trail. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 30's.
High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 30's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Miners Peak Trail. And if that's not sufficient there's a lot more amusing things to do in the Salmon River Mountains. Homedale Creek is a magnificent place to have a look at. There's so much to do here at Miners Peak Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Buckhorn Bar Campground is a glorious site for that.
Miners Peak Trail gets a normal amount of yearly rainfall; January is the wettest month with most snow, and the driest month
 
of the year is July. Some of the water nearby flows, like South Fork Cougar Creek; paddling on Salmon River - South Fork is so much fun.
