  There are many wonderful hiking trails in the Salmon River Mountains where you can absorb the beauty of these mountains. Rice Peak Trail is quite far from the nearest urban center and hiking is such a fun thing to do and this is a great place to do that. If you want a brilliant time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Salmon River Mountains. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Deadwood River, and getting to Topnotch Creek from Rice Peak Trail is trouble-free.
Idaho is a great place for hikers. Rice
    Peak Trail is good enough to spend more than a day at, Deer Flat Campground is a good local campground. There's so much to do here at Rice Peak Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Blue Point Campground is a wonderful location for that. We all need to get out in nature
once in a while and Rice Peak Trail in Valley County, Idaho is such a great place.
If you come at the right time of year, Johnson Creek offers some pleasant whitewater, and some close by water includes Stratton Creek. During the warm days of summer, highs typically are in the 90's at Rice Peak Trail. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 40's. Through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Rice Peak Trail descend into the 10's. Rice Peak Trail is frequently a relatively
 
dried out spot; the month of January is the wettest with most of the snow while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
