Smythe Trail is in a quite desolate area and when you spend some time hiking here you will feel like a whole new person. Hiking here in Idaho is a must. If you come at the right time of year, Kootenai offers some wonderful whitewater, and swing by Treble Creek it's a splendid place to take a look at. Smythe Trail is generally a relatively waterless location; the wettest month of the year is frequently November, that's the one that rains the most while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
Throughout the warm days of summer at
Smythe Trail highs are usually in the 80's with overnight lows in the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Smythe Trail. If you come to this river you will have a good time for sure. Camping is available at Smith Lake Campground,
and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Moyie River.
A glorious place to camp here at Smythe Trail is Bonners Ferry Resort, and why not a little side spree to Poker Creek.
