I have trained for ultra trail running events for 14 years by running at Morgan Monroe. I just completed three lakes and part of Low Gap Trail and Mason Ridge just this morning and, as always, had a wonderful run. No matter how many times I have run the trails of Morgan Monroe it always is as enjoyable as the first time all those years ago. Try this place for yourself. you'll find that it is a very special 24,000 acres!

Your site indicates that the nearest metro area to Three Lakes Trail in Morgan-Monroe State Forest in Bedford. This is incorrect. The nearest metro area is Bloomington, which is a larger town that Bedford and home to several other nearby trails. You actually have to travel through Bloomington to reach Bedford from the Morgan-Monroe State Forest. | | Ok, you've been cooped up too long, time to get out in nature a bit and if you happen to be in Monroe County of Indiana, Three Lakes Trail is a great local trail for doing a bit of leg stretching. Three Lakes Trail sees pretty high levels of rain; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain while January is regularly the driest month. There's so much to do here at Three Lakes Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Pine Grove Camp Ground is a great place for that, and some close by water includes Greasy Creek.

next door to Cherry Lake Dam which is a beautiful place definitely worth taking a look at, and float down the rapids of McCormick's Creek in a kayak. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Three Lakes Trail has to offer, you can camp at Wheeler Mission Campground, and
| close by you stumble on delightful spots like Green Hollow.
For the period of the months of summer at Three Lakes Trail highs are usually in the 80's. Summer overnight lows descend down to the 60's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 30's with temperatures at Three Lakes Trail dipping down into the 10's through winter nights. Three Lakes Trail is located quite a long drive from Bedford but it is a good trail. | |
