  It's a long drive from Mount Sterling to Cross Over Trail but it is a good trail. Time to get out and breathe some fresh air, and Cross Over Trail in Bath County, Kentucky is just the place. Why not camp at The Outpost Campground while you're here at Cross Over Trail; nearby Tram Road Hollow is a pleasant place to go.
And if that's not sufficient there's plenty more entertaining things to do in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains. Red River has a fine whitewater paddling spot close by, and a quick tour to Trough Lick Branch is certainly a fine idea.
    A visit to Kentucky is not complete without some hiking. High temperatures at Cross Over Trail throughout the months of summer are in the 80's while night lows are usually in the 60's. All through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows
in the 10's to Cross Over Trail.
Here at Cross Over Trail you'll most likely meet some people from Mount Sterling. Buckskin Run Camper Park is a good local campground, and of course Boardinghouse Branch flows through this area. The high level of rainfall makes Cross Over Trail a relatively wet site; the wettest month of the year is commonly May, that's the one that rains the most while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
There are many hiking trails in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains where you can truly take in all the beauty of these mountains.
