  Kentucky is a good place for outdoors people. There are many wonderful hiking trails in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains where you can absorb the beauty of these mountains. Laurel Creek Trail gets a good deal of water; during March this area sees the most rain, and the driest month of the year is October. There's so much to do here at Laurel Creek Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Star Creek Shelter Campground is a pleasant location for that; Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area is a good national park.
You'll have to go far
    from Corbin to get to Laurel Creek Trail but hiking along this trail is very enjoyable. Through the summer months here at Laurel Creek Trail, high temperatures typically reach the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 60's. High temperatures all through
the winter are normally in the 40's while Laurel Creek Trail nighttime low temperatures through the winter are in the 20's. Now, you may believe that's heaps but there's even more fun stuff to do here in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Laurel Creek Trail has to offer, you can camp at Eagle Falls Resort, and some of the water close by flows, like Elisha Branch.
We all need to get out in nature once in a while and if you happen to be in McCreary County of Kentucky, Laurel Creek Trail is a great local trail
 
for doing a bit of leg stretching. Paddling on Roaring Paunch River is so much fun, and hey, Bridge Fork is a good local stream.
Get dripping wet paddling on Cumberland River.
