A long drive separates Middlesborough from Redbird Crest Trail, but hiking along this trail is very enjoyable. Camping is available at Pine Mountain State Park; getting to Caney Branch from Redbird Crest Trail is easy. While visiting this area in Kentucky it's a good idea to go hiking too.
