  Finally, hiking time is here again, and South Branch Trail in Piscataquis County, Maine is a great place to go. South Branch Trail is quite far from the nearest urban center and hiking along this trail is very enjoyable. Little North Basin is a brilliant place, and camping is available at Roaring Brook Campground. In case you don’t have a problem getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Sandy Stream, and if you came for an overnight stay Chimney Pond Campground is a good place to camp.
At South Branch Trail throughout the warm
    months highs are in the 70's while overnight lows are commonly in the 50's. Highs during the wintertime are ordinarily in the 20's with temperatures at South Branch Trail dipping down into the-10's throughout winter nights. Maine is a good place for outdoors people. Whitewater
paddling is nice on Nesowadnehunk Stream River.
A common amount of rainfall falls here at South Branch Trail; July is when you get the most rain here; the driest of the months is February.
