User input for Columbia Mountain Trail, Lewis Range, Flathead County, Montana:
Chris: I have hiked this trail in summer with little work. However, I Tried it in march-09 and found it very difficult for several reasons. The snow was only 1 of many things.
George: It is a pretty substantial hike for most. There is a 4000+ ft elevation gain to the top with a long flatish section midway. It is occasionally used by dirt bikes, but I've only ever seen one on the trail. Great views of the valley and the peaks of Glacier National Park.
Emily: Not grueling at all. A very easy hike. Also not a peaceful walk.
Miriam: Beautiful views of the Flathead Valley. Look for the waterfall hidden off the uphill side of the trail about 2 miles in. When you come to the first creek to cross, head up along the creek. Waterfall is just a short jaunt up.
Jeff: Grueling uphill climb; not for beginners. Bring ample supply of water during summer months.
