| | Finally, hiking time is here again, and if you happen to be in Madison County of Montana, Lightning Creek Trail is a great local trail for doing a bit of leg stretching. Hiking in Montana is such a great thing to do. This river is so wonderful. Alp Creek flows through this vicinity, and camping is available at Cabin Creek Campground. During the warm days of summer at Lightning Creek Trail temperatures are mostly in the 80's. Summer overnight lows drop down to the 40's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 30's; nighttime lows in the 10's for Lightning |

Madison River is a great whitewater spot close to Lightning Creek Trail, and a pleasant tour to Sedge Meadow is a nice way to spend an afternoon. Why not camp at Beaver Creek Campground 2 while you're here at Lightning Creek Trail, and in case you don’t mind getting
| drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Madison River. Around Lightning Creek Trail you don’t get a lot of rainfall; June is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest of the months is January.
