There are trails all up and down the Bitterroot Range. Head south on 93 and look for the signs, Lost Horse, Skalkaho Hwy has a lot. Bass Creek, Sheafman Creek, Fred Burr Trailhead, Roaring Lion, Coyote Coulee, Baker Lake, Trapper Peak, Trapper Creek Chaffin Creek....''Hiking the Bitterroots'' By Mort Arkava is a great book to help you get started.

and in case you don’t have a problem getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Panther Creek. Throughout the warmest time of the year, highs commonly are in the 80's at Lookout Mountain Trail while overnight lows are typically in the 40's. Highs all through
| the winter are regularly in the 30's, and night lows in the 10's for Lookout Mountain Trail.
Montana is a great place for hikers. Lookout Mountain Trail gets very little rainfall; the wettest month of the year is mostly May, that's the one that rains the most while July is usually the driest month. Whohoo, so much cool stuff in one place! The Bitterroot Range is excellent! It's a wonderful idea to visit Cow Creek, it's near Lookout Mountain Trail, and Salmon River is a magnificent whitewater spot nearby.
