You can't spend all your time indoors you need to get out once in a while and Surprise Pass Trail in Flathead County, Montana is a great place to go. There are some great whitewater spots on Bear Creek, and why not camp at Rising Sun Campground if you're here at Surprise Pass Trail. In the Lewis Range there are many great hiking trails where wonderful nature is waiting for you.

Just can't get enough of the Lewis Range. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Flathead River - Middle Fork, and a pleasant trip to Marthas Basin is a great way to spend an afternoon. During the days of summer
| here at Surprise Pass Trail, high temperatures ordinarily get into the 70's, and all through the night it cools down to the 40's. Through the winter the highs are commonly in the 20's, and nighttime lows at Surprise Pass Trail throughout the winter generally drop into the 10's. If you're here, you might as well stop at Surprise Pass; camping at Surprise Pass Trail is wonderful fun, Half-Way Motel Campground is a wonderful local campground.
From a rain point of view Surprise Pass Trail is a pretty normal place; during the month of December you get the most snow around here, and April is the month with the least moisture. | |
