The climb, right from the start, is extremely challenging. I like it because it gives a good workout. There are places on the trail where it is difficult to keep your footing, because the trail is so steep. In the Cabinet Mountains you'll find lots of hiking trails, there's no better way to enjoy these mountains. In Montana you never run out of outdoors fun. Camping at Thompson Falls Campground is always a great experience, and a nice spot for whitewater paddling is Vermilion River. Water Hill Trail is quite far from the nearest urban center and hiking it is great fun any time. All through the long summer days at Water Hill Trail highs are mostly in the 80's while nighttime lows are mostly in the 40's.
