City love to come to Appalachian National Scenic Trail, and if you don't mind getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Nolichucky River. For the duration of the long summer days here at Appalachian National Scenic Trail, high temperatures generally reach the 80's;
| the nighttime is a tad cooler of course, generally in the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's with temperatures at Appalachian National Scenic Trail dipping down into the 20's through winter nights. Camping is available at Limestone Cove Campground. As long as you like the outdoors you will like North Carolina. It's a long drive from Johnson City to Appalachian National Scenic Trail but hiking along this trail is very enjoyable. All the water falling down from the sky makes Appalachian National Scenic Trail a wet location; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain, and October on the other hand is the driest.
