| | Alright, enough of spending all this time inside a building, time to get out, and Appalachian National Scenic Trail in Mitchell County, North Carolina is a really good place to spend some time. Hiking trails are all over the Great Smoky Mountains where you can absorb the beauty of these mountains. These mountains rock, just check out all the entertaining stuff to do in the Great Smoky Mountains. Camping at Unaka Mountain Campground is always a great experience, and Beauty Spot Gap is positively a delightful location to explore.

City love to come to Appalachian National Scenic Trail, and if you don't mind getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Nolichucky River. For the duration of the long summer days here at Appalachian National Scenic Trail, high temperatures generally reach the 80's;
| the nighttime is a tad cooler of course, generally in the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's with temperatures at Appalachian National Scenic Trail dipping down into the 20's through winter nights. Camping is available at Limestone Cove Campground.
As long as you like the outdoors you will like North Carolina. It's a long drive from Johnson City to Appalachian National Scenic Trail but hiking along this trail is very enjoyable. All the water falling down from the sky makes Appalachian National Scenic Trail a wet location; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain, and October on the other hand is the driest.
