All through the summertime months here at Summit Loop Trail, high temperatures generally get into the 80's, and the overnight is somewhat cooler of course, regularly in the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Summit Loop Trail are in the 20's. You'll meet a lot of people from Rocky Mount here.
Camping is available at Enfield/Rocky Mount KOA; some nearby water includes Porter Creek. There are some glorious whitewater spots on Tar River, |
and Bear Swamp is in close proximity to Summit Loop Trail and is always a pleasure to visit. A large amount of rainfall falls at Summit Loop Trail; all through August this area sees the most rain; April is when it's the driest.
Summit Loop Trail is located quite a long drive from Rocky Mount but it sure is a nice trail.
