Ok, you've been cooped up too long, time to get out in nature a bit and if you happen to be in Avery County of North Carolina, Yancey Ridge Trail is a great local trail for doing a bit of leg stretching. The high level of rainfall makes Yancey Ridge Trail a quite wet place; the month with most of the rain is May, and the driest month is December. There are many hiking trails in the Blue Ridge Mountains, there's no better way to enjoy these mountains.
This river is so wonderful. Laurel Mountain Branch is close to Yancey Ridge Trail and is always a
diversion to pop by, and in the event that you don't mind getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Gragg Prong River. Yancey Ridge Trail is not very near Boone at all but hiking is such a fun thing to do and this is a great place to do that. All through the
long summer days here at Yancey Ridge Trail, high temperatures ordinarily get into the 70's. Summer overnight lows plunge down to the 50's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 40's with temperatures at Yancey Ridge Trail dipping down into the 10's through winter nights.
North Carolina is a great place for hikers. So much cool stuff in the Blue Ridge Mountains, just striking. A good site to camp here at Yancey Ridge Trail is Flintlock Campground, and a great spot for whitewater paddling is Wilson Creek. There are plenty of folks from Boone here

at Yancey Ridge Trail.
Why not camp at Mulberry Campground if you're here at Yancey Ridge Trail, and there's some flowing water close by, Crusher Branch is a stream you can visit while here.
