No problem, Yancey Ridge Trail in Avery County, North Carolina is a good choice. Yancey Ridge Trail is not very near Boone at all but hiking it is great fun any time. Be careful coming to the Blue Ridge Mountains, you might not ever want to go home again. Why not camp at Flintlock Campground if you're here at Yancey Ridge Trail, and a wonderful place for whitewater paddling is Wilson Creek. Crusher Branch is near |
Yancey Ridge Trail and is always a joy to go to. Down By The River Campground is a delightful local campground, and some nearby water includes Laurel Mountain Branch. North Carolina is a great place for hikers. Summer brings highs in the 70's to Yancey Ridge Trail. Summer night
| lows sink down to the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Yancey Ridge Trail temperatures fall to the 10's. Much rain falls at Yancey Ridge Trail; of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain, and December meanwhile is the driest month. There are plenty of folks from Boone here at Yancey Ridge Trail, and Gragg Prong River is a splendid whitewater spot nearby. | |
