  New Mexico is a good place for outdoors people. Bear Canyon Trail is located quite a long drive from Silver City but it is a great escape from the city. You can't spend all your time indoors you need to get out once in a while and Bear Canyon Trail in Grant County, New Mexico is just the place.
But wait, there's more exciting things to do in the Black Range. You'll meet a lot of folks from Silver City here, and if you came to camp McMillan Campground is a tremendous place to do that. Bear Canyon Trail gets very little precipitation; during the month
    of July you get the most rain around here, and the driest month is April. A short spree to Allie Spring is always worthwhile, and don't miss out on a trip to Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument while you're here.
Through the summertime months, highs generally are in the
80's at Bear Canyon Trail while overnight lows are commonly in the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 50's, and overnight lows in the 10's for Bear Canyon Trail. There are many hiking trails in the Black Range where you can absorb the beauty of these mountains.
You can run the rapids of Gila River right next door to Bear Canyon Trail, and Bear Canyon Trail is brilliant enough to spend more than a day at, Cherry Creek Campground is a brilliant local campground.
