  A long drive separates Los Alamos from Caballo Trail, but it is one of many great trails in this area. Gotta get out of the city man, and Caballo Trail in Los Alamos County, New Mexico is a good choice. With so many outdoors activities available in New Mexico you'll never get bored. Why not camp at Juniper Campground if you're here at Caballo Trail, and Vallecito de los Caballos is a great place to spend some time.
During your tour to Caballo Trail you'll meet some folks from Los Alamos for sure, and there's whitewater on Rio Chama for all you adrenaline
    junkies. Hiking trails like this one are plentyful in the San Juan Mountains where you can truly take in all the beauty of these mountains.
All the outdoors fun things in the San Juan Mountains will keep you coming back over and over. If you haven’t been to Bandelier National
Monument, you must schedule some time for it if you're here; get your pulse rate up on the splendid whitewater of Rio Grande. Around Caballo Trail you don’t get a lot of precipitation; most of the rain falls through August, and February meanwhile is the driest month. Camping at Caballo Trail is great fun, Las Conchas Campground is a great local campground.
The warmest time of the year at Caballo Trail arrives with high temperatures in the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's while Caballo Trail nighttime low temperatures throughout the winter are in the 10's.
