We all need to get out in nature once in a while and Comales Trail in Taos County, New Mexico is a really good place to spend some time. Comales Trail gets very little rain; through August this area sees the most rain, and the driest of the months is February.
Stay the night at Santa Barbara Campground; Rio Pueblo de Taos is a nice whitewater spot close by. Comales Trail is a long drive away from Taos but it is a great escape from the city. In case you don’t have a problem getting soaked, |
you can always go whitewater paddling on Rio Grande.
Now, you may imagine that's a lot but there's even more exciting things to do here in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Comales Trail has to offer, you can camp at Comales
| Campground, and while you're here you will meet lots of folks from nearby Taos. In the Sangre De Cristo Mountains you'll find lots of hiking trails, it's a great hiking area. For the period of the warm months at Comales Trail highs are commonly in the 80's with night lows in the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's; after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Comales Trail sink into the 0's.
