  Hiking trails like this one are plentyful in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains, there's no better way to enjoy these mountains. You can't spend all your time indoors you need to get out once in a while and Lemitas Trail in Rio Arriba County, New Mexico is a good choice. Through the warm months, highs commonly are in the 80's at Lemitas Trail while night lows are mostly in the 50's. For the duration of the winter the highs are typically in the 40's; overnight lows through the wintertime for Lemitas Trail tend to be in the 10's. It's a long drive from Espanola
    to Lemitas Trail but hiking is such a fun thing to do and this is a great place to do that.
This part of New Mexico has a great deal of available outdoors activities. The nice folks of Espanola like to hang out close by, and a trip to Bandelier National Monument is worthwhile.
Lemitas Trail is regularly a relatively dried up spot; August is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month of the year is February.
Rio Ojo Caliente has a nice whitewater paddling spot nearby. There's so much to do here at Lemitas Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Cottonwood RV Park is a magnificent location for that.
But wait, there's more fun things to do in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. In the event that you don't mind getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Rio Chama. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Lemitas Trail has to offer, you can camp at Abiquiu Inn.
