  Finally, hiking time is here again, and if you happen to be in Rio Arriba County of New Mexico, Ojitas Polvadera Trail is a great local trail for doing a bit of leg stretching. It's a long drive from Los Alamos to Ojitas Polvadera Trail but if you're looking for a good place to go hiking this is a good choice. Hiking here in New Mexico is a must. If you're here at Ojitas Polvadera Trail, you could go to East Fork Polvadera Creek; a tremendous place to camp here at Ojitas Polvadera Trail is Redondo Campground.
Ojitas Polvadera Trail is frequently a
    rather dried up place; the wettest month of the year is usually August, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest of the months is April. In the San Juan and Jemez Mountains there are many great hiking trails, there's no better way to enjoy these mountains. During the
warm days of summer, highs mostly are in the 80's at Ojitas Polvadera Trail. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's while Ojitas Polvadera Trail night low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 0's.
Camping at Las Conchas Campground is always a glorious experience, and you'll perhaps meet some folks from Los Alamos here. This is no location for people who don’t like to have fun.
A tour to Bandelier National Monument is worthwhile; Rio Chama is a perfect whitewater spot nearby.
 
And if that's not enough there's a load more enjoyable stuff to do in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. El Rechuelos flows through this area, and you can run the rapids of Rio Chama.
