Because Palomas Trail is very far from civilization if you're looking for a good place to go hiking this is a good choice.
Through the months of summer highs here at Palomas Trail reach the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Highs during the wintertime are mostly in the 40's with temperatures at Palomas Trail dipping down |

into the 0's during winter nights. You'll truly wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the amusing things in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. Rio las Vacas Campground is a good local campground, and a journey to Parque Venado invigorates the soul. At Palomas Trail you don’t
| see much rainfall; the wettest month of the year is frequently August, that's the one that rains the most; the driest month of the year is April.
There are many wonderful hiking trails in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains where you can truly take in all the beauty of these mountains. Nacimiento Campground is a good campground nearby, and there's some flowing water close by, Rito de las Perchas is a stream you can pop by while you're here.
Puertecito de las Perchas is near Palomas Trail and is a magnificent spot, and get dripping wet paddling on Rio Chama. | |
