| | In the San Juan Mountains there are many great hiking trails where you can truly take in all the beauty of these mountains. It is very dry here at Palomas Trail regularly; the wettest month of the year is commonly August, that's the one that rains the most; April is the month with the least moisture. Through the summertime months here at Palomas Trail, high temperatures mostly get into the 80's. Summer overnight lows descend down to the 50's. Through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Palomas |

Palomas Trail is a brilliant location to camp, Rio las Vacas Campground is a brilliant location; Palomas Trail is close to Puertecito de las Perchas which is certainly worth taking a look at. You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors
| cool things the San Juan Mountains has to offer. Parque Venado is a great spot here at Palomas Trail, and Rito de las Perchas is one of the streams close by that might be worth stopping at.
Float down the rapids of Rio Chama in a kayak. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Palomas Trail has to offer, you can camp at Nacimiento Campground. Many miles from the nearest city you have Palomas Trail and it's one of those places where hiking is great. This part of New Mexico is always a pleasure to visit during hiking season.
