Palomas Trail

  It's a long drive from Los Alamos to Palomas Trail but it is a good trail. In the San Juan and Jemez Mountains you'll find lots of hiking trails where you can truly take in all the beauty of these mountains. As long as you like the outdoors you will like New Mexico.
When was the last time you got out in nature a bit? Palomas Trail in Rio Arriba County, New Mexico is just the place. If you crave a little side tour, try Puertecito de las Perchas; Rio Chama
    is a great whitewater spot nearby. So much entertaining stuff to do here in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains, too great to be true. If you came for an overnight stay Nacimiento Campground is a good place to camp. Fenton Lake State
Park is worth taking a look at if you're at Palomas Trail, and camping is available at Rio las Vacas Campground. Rito de las Perchas is a pleasant place to go to, and you can run the rapids of Jemez River. A pleasant spree to Parque Venado is a tremendous way to spend an afternoon. Not much precipitation falls here at Palomas Trail. August is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest of the months is April. The warmest time of the year brings highs in  
the 80's to Palomas Trail. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 50's. For the duration of the wintertime highs are usually in the 40's, and night lows in the 0's for Palomas Trail.
