This part of New Mexico is always a pleasure to visit during hiking season. Hey, time for a hike donít you think? Penas Negras Trail in Rio Arriba County, New Mexico is a really good place to spend some time. Penas
Negras Trail is a trail quite far from Los Alamos but hiking it is great fun any time.
In the San Juan and Jemez Mountains there are many great hiking trails, there's no better way to enjoy these mountains. Whitewater paddling
is great on Jemez River; if you came to camp Nacimiento Campground is a good site to do that. Life's too short to enjoy all the entertaining stuff in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. In the event that you donít have a problem getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Rio Chama. There's so much to do here at Penas Negras Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Rio Puerco Campground is a pleasant place for that. A journey to Penas Negras Trail
wouldnít be complete without a trip to close by Fenton Lake State Park. High temperatures at Penas Negras Trail throughout the months of summer are in the 80's with night lows in the 50's.
