  Many miles from the nearest city you have Powerplant Road and hiking it is always fun. High temperatures at Powerplant Road through the summertime months are in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows descend down to the 40's. Highs throughout the wintertime are mostly in the 40's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Powerplant Road. Powerplant Road is usually a reasonably dried out location; August is the wettest month with most rain while April is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
There are many wonderful hiking trails in the San
    Francisco Mountains where beautiful scenery awaits you. Get your heart pumping on the good whitewater of San Francisco River, and if you fancy a little side journey, try Gold Dust Gulch. Just can't get enough of Powerplant Road. Dripping Gold Spring is a fine local attraction.
Put some time aside to spend at Slaughterhouse Spring while you're here at Powerplant Road, and why not camp at Ben Lilly Campground while you're here at Powerplant Road. South Fork Silver Creek is a perfect local stream; a splendid place for whitewater paddling is San Francisco River. If you want a great time in the great outdoors just come on up to the San Francisco Mountains. Looking for some flowing water? Try South Fork Whitewater Creek, and camping is available at Whitewater Campground.
We all need to get out in nature once in a while and Powerplant Road in Catron County, New Mexico is just what you need. A visit to New Mexico is not complete without some hiking.
