Powerplant Road

  There are many hiking trails in the San Francisco Mountains where beautiful scenery awaits you. Powerplant Road is a trail quite far from Silver City but it is a fun place to hike for the whole family. Finally, hiking time is here again, and Powerplant Road in Catron County, New Mexico is such a great place.
In New Mexico you never run out of outdoors fun. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend San Francisco River.
    South Fork Whitewater Creek flows through this vicinity, and why not camp at Ben Lilly Campground since you're here at Powerplant Road. Near Powerplant Road you come across splendid spots like Gold Dust Gulch, and camping is available
at Whitewater Campground. Slaughterhouse Spring is a great local attraction; let's not forget South Fork Silver Creek which is a stream that you may encounter while here. Dripping Gold Spring is a stunning location to explore while you're at Powerplant Road. There are plenty of people from Glenwood here at Powerplant Road. If you come at the right time of year, San Francisco River offers some great whitewater. Around Powerplant Road you donít get a lot of rainfall.  
August is the wettest month with most rain while April is mostly the driest month. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Powerplant Road. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 40's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 40's while Powerplant Road nighttime low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 10's.
