  We all need to get out in nature once in a while and Powerplant Road in Catron County, New Mexico is just the place. In the San Francisco Mountains there are many great hiking trails, there's no better way to enjoy these mountains. Not much precipitation falls here at Powerplant Road; August is the wettest month with most rain while April is commonly the driest month. Be careful coming to the San Francisco Mountains, you might not ever want to go back home again. If you came to camp Ben Lilly Campground is a brilliant place to do that; Dripping Gold Spring
    is always fun to check out.
Powerplant Road is in a quite desolate area and it sure is a nice trail. There's so much to do here at Powerplant Road that you need to camp here for a while, Whitewater Campground is a delightful place for that, and do put some time aside to spend
at Slaughterhouse Spring if you're here at Powerplant Road. Through the summer months here at Powerplant Road, high temperatures commonly reach the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 40's. All through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's, and night lows during the wintertime for Powerplant Road tend to be in the 10's.
With so many outdoors activities available in New Mexico you'll never get bored. You can run the rapids of San Francisco River next to Powerplant Road, and swing by South Fork Whitewater Creek it's
 
a great location to visit. You feel that's enough? Just getting warmed up. San Francisco River is a great whitewater spot near Powerplant Road.
Take a side trip to South Fork Silver Creek, and a splendid place nearby is Gold Dust Gulch.
