Puerco Espin Trail is located quite a long drive from Los Alamos but hiking along this trail is very enjoyable. Las Conchas Campground is a good local
    campground, and get your heart pumping on the good whitewater of Rio Chama. And if that's not enough there's loads more entertaining stuff to do in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. Puerco Espin Trail is a glorious spot to visit for
more than one day, Redondo Campground is a glorious spot to camp nearby. Bandelier National Monument is a splendid national park, and during your trip here you'll meet some folks from Canones for sure. Some close by water includes El Rechuelos, and you can run the rapids of Jemez River. East Fork Polvadera Creek is one of the streams close by that might be worth visiting. Fenton Lake State Park is a delightful location to take a look at on a lovely day. Summertime  
highs at Puerco Espin Trail regularly tend to be in the 80's. Throughout the moonlight hours it's usually in the 50's. Through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Puerco Espin Trail are in the 0's.
