  Outdoors people generally like this part of New Mexico. In the San Juan Mountains there are many great hiking trails where you can absorb the beauty of these mountains. It's a long drive from Los Alamos to Quemazon Trail but it is a really good trail.
Nearby Quemazon Canyon is a wonderful place to go if you're at Quemazon Trail; Quemazon Trail is a place with many visitors from Los Alamos. Through the months of summer highs here at Quemazon Trail reach the 80's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. The wintertime brings highs
    down to the 40's with temperatures at Quemazon Trail dipping down into the 10's throughout winter nights. Put on your hiking shoes and hit the trail, Quemazon Trail in Los Alamos County, New Mexico is the outdoors at it's best.
You'll beyond doubt wish for more hours in a
day to enjoy all the enjoyable stuff in the San Juan Mountains. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Rio Grande, and Quemazon Trail is a nice spot to camp, Las Conchas Campground is a nice spot. There's whitewater on Rio Chama for all you adrenaline rush seekers, and if time allows, Bandelier National Monument is a national park worth stopping at. Not much precipitation falls here at Quemazon Trail; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain; February is the month with the least moisture.
Juniper Campground is a good campground here.
