  There are many wonderful hiking trails in the Black Range where you can absorb the beauty of these mountains. We all need to get out in nature once in a while and if you happen to be in Grant County of New Mexico, Rocky Canyon Trail is a great local trail for doing a bit of leg stretching. Around Rocky Canyon Trail you don’t get a lot of rainfall; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain while April is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Rocky Canyon Trail is located quite a long drive from Silver City but hiking it is always
    fun.
Through the warm days of summer highs here at Rocky Canyon Trail get into the 80's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 50's with temperatures at Rocky Canyon Trail dipping down into the 10's through winter nights. This
is such a fun river. Don't leave Rocky Canyon Trail without first paying a visit to Brannon Spring, and camping is available at Rocky Canyon Campground.
All year is a nice time in the Black Range if you adore the outdoors. Gila River is a nice whitewater spot right next door to Rocky Canyon Trail, and if you came for an overnight stay Lower Black Canyon Campground is a wonderful site to camp. New Mexico is a great place for hikers.
