  While visiting this area in New Mexico it's a good idea to go hiking too. There are many wonderful hiking trails in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains, there's no better way to enjoy these mountains. Trampas Trail is located quite a long drive from Taos but it is a fun place to hike for the whole family. When was the last time you got out in nature a bit? Trampas Trail in Rio Arriba County, New Mexico is just what you need.
Having a perfect time in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains is painless. Trampas Trail is a magnificent spot to visit for more than one
    day, Trampas Trailhead Campground is a magnificent spot to camp nearby, and float down the rapids of Rio Grande in a kayak. Rio San Leonardo is a glorious local stream. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Trampas Trail has to offer, you can camp at Trampas Medio Campground.
Throughout the months of summer at Trampas Trail highs are regularly in the 80's with nighttime lows in the 40's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Trampas Trail are in the 0's.
At Trampas Trail you don’t see much rain; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain, and January is when it's the driest.
Ojo del Oso is an inspiring site to check out while you're here, and get dripping wet paddling on Rio Embudo.
