  Put on your hiking shoes and hit the trail, Valle Trail in Los Alamos County, New Mexico is a perfect place for getting out. You'll have to go far from Los Alamos to get to Valle Trail but hiking along this trail is very enjoyable. There are many wonderful hiking trails in the San Juan Mountains where wonderful nature is waiting for you. A visit to New Mexico is not complete without some hiking.
There's so much to do here at Valle Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Juniper Campground is a brilliant site for that, and you can run the rapids
    of Rio Grande. If you haven’t been to Bandelier National Monument, you must schedule some time for it while you're here, and a short spree to Pajarito Spring is always worthwhile. Valle Trail gets very little rainfall; the wettest month of the year is mostly August, that's the
one that rains the most, and April is the month with the least moisture.
Summertime highs at Valle Trail mostly tend to be in the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Valle Trail plunge into the 0's. If you want a great time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Valle Trail.
Now, you may assume that's a lot but there's even more fun things to do here in the San Juan Mountains. There are plenty of people from
 
Los Alamos here at Valle Trail, and a magnificent place for whitewater paddling is Rio Chama. Armstead Spring is a picturesque location to visit while you're at Valle Trail, and if you came to camp Las Conchas Campground is a great location to do that.
